8:30 am | Registration opens, school teams receive race bibs. |
9:00 am | Runners in composite teams gather near registration to meet their team members and obtain their race bib. |
9:45 am | Race briefing. |
10:00 am | Senior Girls and Intermediate Girls start. |
10:05 am | Senior Boys and Intermediate Boys start. |
10:10 am | Junior Girls and Y7/8 Girls start. |
10:15 am | Junior Boys and Year 7/8 Boys start. |
12:30 pm | Course closure. |

Competition levels
All runners run the Standard grade for their (long event) class — except Legs 1 and 3 of the Junior Boys and Girls, who run their Championship grade.
- Senior Boys/Girls: Orange
- Intermediate Boys/Girls: Yellow
- Junior Boys/Girls: Yellow/White (see above)
- Yr 7 & 8 Boys/Girls: White
Teams
“Official teams” consist of 3 students, according to the Special Rules for New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships (see www.orienteering.org.nz/resources/rules).
Location
Palmerston North. Park and farm area near the Massey University campus. Generally flat with a few hills to contend with for the longer courses.
